Gene Norman was born in Tennessee in January of 1931. His father eventually got a job up here in Michigan and the family moved. While going to school he met his late wife, Lois Norman, who he was married to for 34 years. During his school years, he also played basketball, baseball, and football. He received varsity letters for those sports as well. He served for the United States Army, although he never saw combat. He did enjoy playing basketball for his company’s team. After his work in the Army, he went to work for the Eaton Corporation where he was a machinist. Gene worked there for many years and retired from Eaton. He and Lois had four children together, two boys and two girls who he is incredibly proud of.
